teaching writing strategies

 

 Mentor texts are published works that serve as a good example of the kind of writing you help students produce.  If teaching how to write, look for books on crafts, cooking, or other topics.  If you teach report writing, look into nonfiction books, journals.  Read these books (or part of them) to students. Talk in class about special features you noticed in the book. Make a list of these features (the manual has numbered steps, pictures to match, sequences, etc ). 

1. Group discussion 

The student Will be expected to actively participate in the activities in writing. Small group discussion activities can be writing and discussion other friends. ( A. Surjadi ). The small group discussion method may not be effective for presenting new information where students are motivated. But the discussion seems very suitable when the teacher wants to do the following : 



A. Helping students learn to think from the point' of view of a subject discussion by giving then the practice of thinking

B. Helping students evaluate logic and evidence for their position or other position. 

C. Give opportunity to students to the application of a principle

D. Helping students realize a problem and formulate it using information obtained from reading or lecturing 

E. Using materials from other members in the group 


2. Mind map 

The easist way to put information into the brain and take information out of the brain, mind map are a way of recording creatively, effectively, and literally mapping our thoughts. Mind map also is very Simple. Elements of mind map: 

Center of mind maps, main branch, branch, words, picture.




3. Think talk write strategy 


Builds in time for thought and reflection and for the organization of ideas and the testing of those ideas before students are expected to write. 4. Ask question
 To help elicit vocabulary and gramatical structures from your students. This Will engage their speaking abilities as it gets then thinking to.

 5. Create a word bank
 Word together as a class to Create a word bank that related to the Topic on which they Will you may choose to display these work Banks in your classroom or encourage your students to keep then in a vocabulary notebook.
